September 2010 Service Project

The August project was successful and so graciously received in Africa.  Due to the amount of babies/toddlers currently being cared for in the infant orphange in Djubouti, we will carry last months' project over for another month.  They are in need of any infant/toddler supplies we can stuff in the flat rate shipping box.  Clothing, diapers, bottles, wipes, toys, etc.. etc... etc.  Be sure to calendar our club meeting (September 8th at 7:00 pm at the Highland Y) and meet our newest member... Anne Viricel!

August 2010 Service Project

This month we again focused on the infant orphanage located in the Horn of Africa in the country of Djubouti.  Unfortunately, for reasons I'm not sure, the orphanage is adding infants on a very high rate of speed.  The nurses, with the help of our soldiers, are doing a great job with the babies, but... are in need of basic supplies.  As in the past, we gathered, packed and shipped items necessary for use with a baby/toddler. Through the efforts of our members, and a generous donation of grandson clothing.... we shipped 16 boxes stuffed with 72.5 lbs of baby stuff!!!! We are proud of our soldiers, the work they do ensuring freedom within the world and support their efforts to make children's lives a little easier!!

2010 Division Council Meeting a Great Success

Division Council Meeting a Great Success

The Division 36 monthly Council Meeting (DCM) was a great success thanks to our planning committee chairs Rose and Jose.  The evening was greeted with over 100 Inland Empire Kiwanians who feasted on Rosa Maria's mexican food, had fun, were educated and took home lots of wonderful raffle prizes.  Last count, over 37 valuable prizes were distributed thanks to Iris and Sherry. The collection project was crayons and color books for children (and our soldiers) on the continent of Africa.  We collected 8 USPS shipping boxes full which included 194 boxes of crayons (4,942 sticks of color) and 168 color books to encourage creativity and coloring outside the lines!  In addition, the raffle netted the club funds to continue our monthly shipments.

July 2010 Service Project

JULY 2010 SERVICE PROJECT

This month we focused on children's hygiene.  Our soldiers currently engaged in Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa requested new toothbrushes and toothpaste samples for the children.  So....  we packed 150 sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste into gift bags for the soldiers to distribute around Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Another Great Project Completed!
